MCHE Associate Director Craig S Fryer part of team awarded R21 to assess risk perceptions for flavored small cigars/cigarillos among young adults

Craig S. Fryer, Assistant Professor in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health and Associate Director of the Maryland Center for Health Equity is a co-investigator on a recently awarded R21 funded by the FDA through the National Cancer Institute (NIH/NCI), titled Assessing Risk Perceptions for Flavored Small Cigars/Cigarillos among Young Adults.

Maryland Study Defines Typology of Researchers Based upon Strategies used to Retain Minority Participants in Clinical Trials

The equitable inclusion of racial and ethnic minority participants in research, including clinical trials, remains elusive for many investigators, and retaining participants in a study after successful recruitment presents unique challenges.  A recent study conducted at the University of Maryland Center for Health Equity (M-CHE), however, has uncovered new information concerning characteristics of researchers and methods used to retain study participants.
