Call for Applications: ADVANCING FACULTY DIVERSITY
2013-2014 Program


Building upon our highly successful NSF ADVANCE initiatives, this program will be co-lead by Dr. Carol Espy-Wilson and Dr. Stephen B. Thomas, two of the nation's leaders of advancing faculty diversity. Together with UMD institutional support, they will establish a research enhancement network designed to advance the careers of assistant and associate faculty of color and contribute to a more diverse and inclusive campus for all faculty.

Collegium of Scholars

The Collegium of Scholars is a Maryland Center for Health Equity (M-CHE) forum, which through a range of activities, engages scholars in the exchange of meaningful discussions regarding the complexities and impact of race, racism, ethnicity, gender, class, and discrimination on health and wellness.

Building Trust Education Programs

This curriculum is designed for use in minority communities, particularly those who experience significant health disparities. This program will help participants understand how research can improve public health and eliminate health disparities. The goals of this program are to enable participants to engage with health and medical research in their communities and to make informed decisions about participating in research. Ideally, two facilitators will lead this interactive five-module program in groups. Click here to download brochure.

Healthy Maryland Week Highlights Health Enterprise Zones

Lieutenant Governor Anthony G. Brown held an event on Thursday May 31, 2012 to highlight the O'Malley-Brown Administration's efforts to address health disparities. The event, which took place during "Healthy Maryland Week," included a free health screening event in partnership with the Prince George's County Health Department, Kaiser Permanente and Greater Baden Medical Services at the Wayne K. Curry Prince George's County Sports and Learning Complex.
