Now, working in partnership with the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research’s Collaborative Center for Health Equity at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the program has taken root and is expanding the HELI to an intensive weeklong “research boot camp” scheduled for June 20-24. The institute focuses on increasing the number of investigators, particularly minority investigators, engaged in health disparities/health equity research that are successful in tenure track academic appointments in schools of public health, medicine and other health science disciplines. For the second year, the entire Center for Health Equity team, including Drs. Thomas, Quinn, Butler, Fryer and Garza, will present during the institute and work directly with the HELI scholars.
The Health Equity Leadership Institute is made possible through NIH Centers of Excellence grant awards from the National Institute on Minority Health and Heath Disparities to the University of Maryland and University of Wisconsin.
